I found Viktor Johanssons series of images (part of Google photography prize) of a diver interesting as together they show movement but the images individually show stillness as the focus is extremely sharp.
I also liked Balazs Mate's series 'Unmade' as it took already strong semi-traditional portrait images and used different techniques such as scratching or burning to add something unique. I am not sure what the context behind the work is but it appears to be making a statement about identity or vainity perhaps as the faces are always obscured.
